Floateers

The world is made of tiles. Collect them. Floateers shows the map as a grid of tiles: every ride, run, walk or paddle collects the ones you cross. Watch your map fill up, plan routes through fresh tiles, and go get them.

One map, three places

Phone apps for iPhone and Android — record outings, import sessions, plan routes, collect tiles.

The tiles

Red tiles you have collected — from the outings you record and the sessions you import.
Blue tiles you plan to visit — claimed by the routes you sketch, released when you delete them.
Green the frontier — uncollected tiles bordering yours, the natural next targets.
Orange tiles crossed during your current outing, filled live as you move, with a buzz for every new one.

What it does

See your collected and planned tiles — on Google Maps (road, satellite, terrain) or on Floateers' own OpenStreetMap-based map in light and dark — with every session's path and stats (distance, speeds, elevation, steepest gradient), and replay any ride as a moving glow on its line.
Plan routes by tapping the map — each route saves itself as you go and shows live how many new tiles it crosses.
Go with the live session view: it follows your position, fills tiles as you cross them, and keeps working with the phone in your pocket.
Glance at your wrist: the Apple Watch and Wear OS companions show a live tile radar — the tiles around you, your trail, planned routes, roads and water on a dark map — and open by themselves when you start recording. Riding by the watch alone saves real phone battery.
Import sessions from the Floaty app (GPX, JSON or CSV exports) — or GPX/KML tracks from any other app — in two taps to make your tiles permanent.
Share a ride as a simple link — anyone can view the route, tiles and stats in their browser, no app needed. Links expire after 90 days, and you can stop one anytime.
Move everything to a new phone with one transfer file, or share sessions as KML for Google My Maps and Earth.

Optional account — one map everywhere

Everything above works without an account, forever. If you use Floateers in more than one place, a free account syncs your rides, tiles and plans automatically between your phones and floateers.cc — record on the phone, and it's on the big screen when you get home. Signing in is an email link; there are no passwords. Clubs and team features will build on this, always opt-in.

Works with Floaty — or on its own

Floateers was inspired by the Floaty app and imports its session exports, but any GPX or KML track works, whatever recorded it. No account needed, no sign-up, nothing to configure — unless you want the sync above.

Privacy

Floateers has no analytics, no ads, and no tracking. Your tiles, outings and plans stay on your device; nothing is uploaded unless you choose an account or share a ride — and then only to Floateers' own servers in the EU. See the privacy policy for the whole picture.

Floateers is a map viewer and planner, not a navigation product — always follow the actual road, water and traffic situation around you, not the tiles on the screen. Ride, run, walk and paddle responsibly, and only where you are allowed to.
